My top Nottingham eats: Aubrey’s Traditional Creperie

IMG_20150515_172528
Top: frazzled chorizo galette, bottom: daily special galette.

Tucked away in an alley of an abandoned shopping mall where across the way you can have your afro cut, lies this little gem of a place.

With a few small tables outside and another few in, beside the tiny working kitchen is Aubrey’s Traditional Creperie. A small menu of savoury galettes (like those above) and sweet crepes along with a selection of quality hot and cold drinks are offered. Grab a glance at the chalkboard for the daily specials (worth a look!), place your order and watch your food be made with love and care. Expect to wait, but you will be rewarded knowing that the food is freshly prepared and delicious.

Prices are reasonable, some may find a little expensive, but I feel that good ingredients and a quality product are certainly worth it.

What we had:

L: Daily galette special- cracked egg, spinach and am on a nutmeg and mustard mascarpone base, topped with Parmesan cheese. £9.95

Loose leaf Earl Grey £1.95

G: Frazzled chorizo galette with cracked egg, carmelized onions, baby spinach, parmesan and aioli. £7.95

Cappuccino £2.30

I’d rate this place 9/10, losing a mark for slow service and an order mess-up which was handled with grace. Top marks for food.

Next time I’ll be going back for a sweet afternoon crepe!

If visiting, it’s only open Wednesday till Saturday, 10am-6pm and can be found at 14-16 West End Arcade, Long Row, Nottingham,          NG1 6JP.
